New IG to oversea Penukonda by-election

Hyderabad, May 20, 2005

Following the directions issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to the State Government on Friday, a special Inspector General of Police Mr. Bhupati Babu is being deputed for supervising the security measures for the Penukonda By election in place of RP Meena.

The Election Commission also ordered the State Government to shift Suri, the prime accused in the murder of Paritala Ravi to shift from Anathapur jail to another far off one. In accordance with the directions, the Government has decided to shift him to Visakhapatnam Central Jail and arrangements towards this are on amidst heavy security early on Saturday.
