Penukonda to go for polls on 2nd June

Hyderabad, May 2, 2005

The bye election to Penukonda Assembly seat in Ananthapur district vacant since the assassination of TDP MLA Paritala Ravi will be held on 2nd June.

An official press release said the bye election notification would be issued on 9th May while the last date for filing nominations was 16th May. The papers will be scrutinized on 17th May and withdrawal of candidature allowed till 19th May. Counting of votes will be taken up on 5th June. The Election commission announced that mode of conduct would be enforced with immediate effect and Electronic voting machines would be used in the by-election.
