A pilot project under the ambitious Rajiv Gruhakalpa scheme of the State Government for poorer sections was launched at Mailardevpalli village in Ranga Reddy district on Wednesday.
The Major Irrigation Minister, P Lakshmaiah and Mines and Geology Minister, P Sabita Indra Redddy were among a host of personalities who participated in the bhoomi pooja. The Minister told a public meeting said that the Government was committed to constructing 6.60 lakh houses, throwing open employment opportunities to nearly 33 lakh wage earners in the next four years. He said that unlike in VAMBAY scheme, there will not be any subsidy and the cost of the house is Rs. 75000 with the beneficiary contributing Rs. 7500 and the rest in the form of loan repayable in twenty years.
