The combing by police commandos in the Nallamala forest, the forces almost swooped on a top leader of the CPI (Maoist) on Kurnool Prakasam border on Sunday. The Maoists killed two persons branding them police informers somewhere else. A police party narrowly missed nabbing Pratap, the District Committee Member of the CPI (Maoist) and leader of the special guerrilla squad of the Nallamala East Area Committee. An exchange of fire ensured between the naxals and the police but there were no causalities on both sides.
The police recovered kit bags, a revolver and a hand grenade. In Medak district, the naxals beat to death a former naxalite branding him a police informer at Pallepahad village. In Adilabad, the District Superintendent of Police Kripanand Tripathi Ujela displayed at a news conference an AK 47 Rifle belonging to the District Committee Secretary of the Maoists, which was recovered by the police.
