Home Minister hints of reimposing ban on extrimist groups

Kurnool, March 2, 2005

The Home Minister, K Jana Reddy has said the Government will examine the issue of reimposing the ban on the CPI (Maoist) if there is public demand.

Speaking to reporters after consoling the families of those who were killed by Maoists at Vempenta in Kurnool district on Wednesday, he said that the Government was facing a volley of questions from the public whether negotiations had any purpose when the genocide continued. He said all the political parties peoples' organizations and intellectuals who had great hopes in the dialogue process should introspect and advise the Government properly.

Jana Reddy condemned the brutal killing of eight persons by naxals. He further said that killing innocent people was a serious violation of human rights and commented that the Maoists failed to resolve the issues of the poor people and dragged them into bloodbath.
