Naxals kill policeman and torched 6 buses

Mahabubnagar, March 18, 2005

Suspected naxals shot dead a police constable of Balanagar police station in an attack on the busy Hyderabad Bangalore National Highway on Friday. The constable was going to the police station on a motor cycle when three Naxalites lurking on the roadside and opened fire at him. They pumped in two more bullets into his body to make sure that he was dead.

Members of the District Police Officers association staged a rasta roko on the highway following the killing. They raised slogans against the Government and re impose the ban on the CPI (Maoists) and arrest its emissaries Varavara Rao, Kalyanarao and Gaddar. The police sources said that a special squad of the police took up aerial survey of Nallamalla forest in Guntur.
