CM orders cancellation of sale of temple lands

The Endowment lands scandal took a new turn on Friday with the Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy issuing orders for immediate cancellation of the sales of all temple lands affected by I.Venkateswarlu during his period as Endowments commissioner. This cancellation covers the sale of lands belong to not only to Sri Sitharama Swamy and Sri Venugopala Swamy temples near Hyderabad but also those all over the State. Following a representation made by the BJP delegation pending against alienation of the temple lands, the CM also announced his decision to keep in abeyance until further orders the process of regularizing the encroachments of temple lands including the Simhachalam Devastanam. He said all necessary steps would be taken to regularize the encroachments of Simhachalam lands for payment of market value through a committee.

Major attack on police station by naxals

Two constables and a civilian were injured when the CPI (Maoist) launched a lightning attack on the Mannanur armed outpost and the Amrabad police station on the fringes of the Nallamala forest in Mahabubnagar district on Friday night. According to the Superintendent of Police of Mahabubnagar, Vikram Singh Mann, naxals first hurled grenades at the AOP. The Naxals divided themselves into batches launched the attack by indiscriminately firing at the outpost. The police personnel manning the AOP retaliated following which heavy exchange of fire took place.

Seven of marriage party killed in Cuddapah RTC Bus accident
Cuddapah
A marriage party traveling by a lorry which hit by an APSRTC bus at Kothpalle in Muddanur mandal late on Thursday night claiming seven lives and fifteen injured. Five persons of the marriage party died on the spot which other succumbed to their injuries in hospital on Friday according to police. The bus driver surrendered in Yerraguntla police station soon after the mishap. Nearly fifty persons were proceeding in the lorry.

14 days remand for Maoist leaders

The CPI (Maoist) leaders and members of the Viplava Rachayitala Sangham who were arrested on the outskirts of Nizamabad on Thursday were produced before the First Class Judicial Magistrate on Friday. They were remanded to 14 days judicial custody. They were then shifted to the district prision amidst tight security. Meanwhile, Varavararao speaking to press asked the police and the Government ex explain how the Virasam members' meeting with the CPI (Maoist) leaders in Aurangabad could be treated as an offence.
