A judicial inquiry was ordered by the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday into the controversy surrounding the sale of temple lands. The judicial commission, which will be headed by A.Venkatarami Reddy, retired judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, has been asked to submit its report within three months from the date of assumption of charge. Meanwhile, the ACB officials are conducting raids on the residence of senior IAS officer and Principal Secretary, Home, JP Murthy at Jubilee Hills. The officials were stated to have seized some important documents during the daylong raids. Mr.Murty was not present when the ACB officials swooped on his house in the morning but he reached the spot only after one and half hours. The ACB top brass refused to give details except confirming the raids.

Registration charges in the State will come down from July 1 to a uniform rate of 9.5 percent of the market value of the property from the present level which ranges upto 13.5 percent in case of Municipal corporations and 11.5 percent in Municipalities and panchayats. The Government on Tuesday issued orders giving effect to the crucial decision taken some time ago to avoid illegal land transactions and to increase registrations. In case of general power of attorney documents, the stamp duty has been reduced from 5 per cent to a flat amount of Rs.1, 000 if the deed is infavour of family members and to 1 per cent in case of others. The stamp duty has been reduced from 3 per cent to 1 per cent for partition and release deeds made in favour of family members and also in case of settlement deeds.

The State level Backward Classes Commission on Tuesday submitted its report on Muslims to the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy recommending five per cent reservation from them in employment and education on the grounds of their backwardness. It suggested creation of separate'E' group for Muslims in the list of backward classes already enjoying reservation based on ABCD groups. The commission led by Chairman, Justice D.Subramanyam presented the report to the Chief Minister at his camp office.

The ultimatum served by the CPI (Maoists) to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi to quit the Congress alliance Government by June 15, the CPI (ML) Janashakti had demanded the resignation of MLAs and MPs who were elected on the Telangana Slogan. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Amar, Secretary said Janashakti wanted even those legislators belonging to the Telangana Regional Congress coordination Committee and members of the Rajya Sabha too to quit their posts. The Janashakti secretary called upon people to take up an agitation for forcing leaders from Telangana to resign from their positions of power. He asked them to offer resistance to such leaders. The organization and its guerrilla squads would back them along with the Maoists.

The Global Delivery Centre of IBM, which is part of an integrated global delivery network of more than two dozen centers, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy in the Mindspace Software Technology Park at Madhapur on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the State's growth of 64.5 percent achieved in IT Exports for March 2005 showed how proactively the Government was helping the industry to grow. The Government was making all efforts to develop infrastructure support like 160km eight-lane road, power and water supply. Mr.Frank Kerl, Vice president, Asia-Pacific, IBM Global Services, Mr.Kerl said IBM's business grew by 49 percent in the last two years in Hyderabad. The Company has 23,000 employees in India and was happy with the local talent skills. Mr.Shanker Annaswamy, MD of IBM India said this was the fifth GDC in India. The centre would initially employee 1000 people with a capacity to grow in line with client demand enabling IBM to scale delivery of its Application Management Services according to market needs.
