Naxals blast Tenali MPs house
Guntur
Naxals on Monday blasted the house of the Tenali MP, V.Balashouri in protest against the Government beginning work on the Pulichintala project on Sunday. Nearly twelve members of the CPI (Maoist) participated in the operation. According to information, the Naxalites had not only damaged the house but also taken away Rs.2 lakhs and jewellery valued at another Rs.1 lakh. In another incident in Warangal, the commander of the Mahadevapur action team, Suryam was killed in an encounter on Sunday evening.

APSRTC employees to go on strike
Hyderabad
APSRTC employees have decided to go on strike from July 4, after the conciliation talks between the management and the union leaders in the presence of the Joint Commissioner failed on Monday. The Joint Action Committee of APSRTC Employees Unions, announced the decision soon after the talks, JAC members met and finalized the date. Out of the 18 demands, 15 demands concern issues to be solved by the Government and the rest by the management level. Reacting the announcement over the strike, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director, MV Krishna Rao appealed the employees not to strike work.

Badi Baata a good success - says Minister
Hyderabad
The School Education Minister, N.Rajya Lakshmi has claimed that Badi Baata, the enrolment drive taken up Statewide from June 6 to 11 with the involvement of teachers, parents and NGOs is successful. At a press conference on Monday, she nailed the criticism from certain quarters that the drive was a failure and suffered from several lapses saying that nearly ten lakh children were identified under the programme and arrangement were under way to enroll them in schools.

Good attendance at Secretariat
Hyderabad
The warning by the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy to employees on the compliance of office timings seems to have had a sobering impact on the Secretariat staff with several departments registering a better attendance on Monday. However, a very few employees were present at 10.30am as the RTC buses transporting them arrived at their usual timings. The Chief Minister reviewed the attendance of employees of some departments recently and expressed unhappiness over the absenteeism. A follow up of the instructions shows that the attendance has improved significantly. At a review meeting on Monday morning, senior officers informed the Chief Minister that there was improvement of five per cent over the regular attendance.

Probe into Group I paper leak
Hyderabad
The Government has ordered an enquiry into the alleged leakage of question papers of the recently held Group I main examination of the APPSC. VP Jauhari, Special Chief Secretary, Revenue Department will probe into the issue. The Chief Minister has issued orders to this effect following a representation by student leaders on Monday.
