The Home Minister, K Jana Reddy said the State Government had provided the slain TDP MLA P. Ravi with ten Personal Security Officers in recognition of the threat to his life. Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, the Minister said that Ravi had the same number of PSOs before the Assembly polls but the figure was scaled down to four by Security Review committee in July.
The Government had no role when his security was lowered. On a representation to him by Ravi on August 16, the Minister said the PSOs were increased to six and when the TDP President requested him for more security on September 6, two more PSOs were added. A total of 10 PSOs were restored to him on a court order on September 9.
