Violence escalated in the State again on Wednesday with the police killing a Maoist member in an encounter in Anathapur district and naxals going on the rampage in Karimnagar district ahead of the statewide bandh on Thursday. The Maoists shot dead a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activist in Anantapur on Tuesday night.
A ten-member dalam forced five persons out of their houses after throwing a bomb to terrorize villagers who gathered. They shot dead 42 year old one Mr Ramesh alleging he had helped killers of their sympathizer. Hours after this killing, a member of CPI (Maoist) was shot dead in an encounter near J Rampuram village in Vajrakarur mandal. In Karimnagar district, naxals torched two busses owned by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Corporation (APSRTC) and attached public representatives. In another incident, Janashakti naxalites thrashed the Konaraopeta mandal Parishad Vice-President G Yellaiah Yadav of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Dharmaram village. Mr Yadav immediately announced his resignation and the party.
