Uncertainty prevailed on Tuesday over the prospects of neither resumption of talks with naxals with neither side nor the emissaries of the Maoists taking any worthwhile initiative to break the deadlock.
Expressing concern over the recent events, the members of the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee held discussions with the Home Minister, K Jana Reddy. No word came from the Maoists or their emissaries, the exercise ended without any outcome. G Chakrapani, a professor and K Srinivasa Reddy, a journalist who are members of the monitoring committee, while appreciating the efforts of the Home Minister for resumption of talks expressed dismay that the first ever attempt made by any Government to hold a meaningful dialogue with the naxals had met a a sad fate. They appealed the both sides to exercise restraint and not to resort to acts which might derail the peace process.
