Local body leaders quit

Karimnagar, January 18, 2005

Succumbing to pressure from naxals, the en masse resignations of the local body representatives belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) are continuing in the district.

Representatives of the Vemulawada mandal local body have announced their resignation en masse to their posts as well as the party on Tuesday. They stated that the village atmosphere was totally disturbed following the failure of peace talks with the naxals and they asked the Government to resume talks with the naxals unconditionally and ensure peace in the villages. They also stated that they were unable to reside in the villages due to the present volatile situation.
