In an exchange of fire between naxalites belonging to the CPI (Maoist) and the Police, a woman naxalites was killed and two policemen sustained injuries on the outskirts of Venkatapuram village of Korutla mandal on Wednesday evening. The daylong operation of chasing and exchange of fire n the forests of Thakkalapalli village of Kathalapur mandal ended with the killing of naxal. The Police recovered two DBBLs, on tapancha, one grenade, one .303, four flash cameras and other materials.
The Superintendent of Police DS Chauhan said that on credible information that the Karimnagar west division Maoist naxalites including the DCS, Ramesh and 30 others were moving in the Korutla mandal and summoning the villagers in to forest and threatening them and resorting to extortion, the police organized village visits. When the same party was returning to Korutla in the afternoon, the naxalites made a surprise attack on it and a woman naxlite was found dead.
