The National Human Rights Commission has directed the Director General of Police to investigate the killing of 13 Maoists in encounters last month and report the action taken and final outcome to the commission within six weeks. In its order to the DGP on 3rd February, the Commission annexed a letter of Jaya Vindhyala, general secretary, State Unit of the People's Union of Civil Liberties in which she complained of terror unleashed by police in the form of encounters.
