The 'Chalo Assembly' call given by the Struggle Committee of Teachers Association was deferred following the intervention of the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday.
A section of the teachers did not welcome their leaders' decision to defer the strike and accused them of taking lakhs of teachers on a ride. As a show down between the Government and teachers appeared imminent following an order on Thursday night effecting transfers and promotions along with DSC 2003 candidates in April and the Chief Minister invited for talks.
