More than 2000 Non Resident Indians (NRI) will participate in the fourth edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas being organized in the State Capital on January 7. Speaking to reporters after a review meeting, the Tourism Minister, J.Geetha Reddy and Information Minister Md.Ali Shabbir said that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would inaugurate the celebrations, President APJ Kalam would participate in the concluding function where the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman would be conferred on distinguished overseas Indians.
The event will coincide with the anniversary of the return of Mahatma Gandhi to India from South Africa on January 9, 1915, after successfully fighting against apartheid, which later became a model and inspiration for the national movement in India. Two separate exhibitions would be organized during the event to allow States to showcase the both investment and partnership of 12 States had confirmed their participation wile State Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy would a presentation on January 8. The Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the institutional partner for this year. The PDB would also celebrate the success achieved by overseas Indians besides strengthening traditional bonds.
