Commercial Tax Returns to be computerized
Hyderabad

The Commercial Taxes Department is gearing up to introduce e-filing system of commercial tax returns to all the dealers from the beginning of the next financial year. The total computerization of the department is in advanced stages and certain short comings in terms of broadband availability and connectivity have been identified. The Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konathala Ramakrishna said the department was also making efforts to provide downloadable forms to the dealers to ensure that they are not forced to make rounds to the offices

Speaking to reporters, he said due to introduction of VAT in the State, the department was exploring new areas from where it could realize the revenue to bridge the gap. The compensation given by the Centre was insufficient to bridge it. In addition, the proposed phase wise abolition of Central Sales Tax would also cause revenue loss to the tune of Rs.1000 crores.
