The Union Minister of State for Tourism, Renuka Chowdhury on Saturday assured employees of the Palvancha based unit of Sponge Iron India Ltd., of steps for its merger with the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Addressing a meeting on the SIIL Campus, she said she had already requested the Union Minister for Steel for clearing the proposal for expansion of the sponge iron unit. She said she could save the SIIL unit from disinvestment because of the strong support of its workers and trade unions and their urge to work with dedication. The production capacity of the unit would be increased in phased manners.
