RTC unions threaten indefinite strike

Hyderabad, April 23, 2005

The APSRTC Employees' Union has threatened to go on an indefinite strike if the Government does not implement the written assurance given by the Transport Minister, S.Santosh Reddy after discussions on15th March.

The assurances related to reduction of motor vehicle tax for RTC buses on a par with Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, reimbursement of the loss suffered by the RTC due to various concessions, sales tax reduction on diesel to four percent from 19 percent as allowed to Railways, ex gratia to eligible employees and implementation of monetary relief scheme for medically invalid drivers.
