AISF activists hurt in clashes

Guntur, April 21, 2005

Two of the activists of the All India Students Federation were injured when they tried to stop supper classes being conducted in the Vikas Junior College (women) at Vidyangar in Guntur on Thursday.

The AISF town vice president received bleeding injuries on his head while another student received injuries on the legs when the college management allegedly drove away the activists by pelting stones at them. A private TV channel recorded the entire incident. The management contended that while the Minister for Higher Education had allowed conducting of summer classes in the corporate colleges, the AISF had no business to interfere in their affairs. The AISF members later sat on a dharna in front of the Regional Inspecting Officer of the Intermediate Board raising slogans against the college management and the RIO of Intermediate Board for not taking action on the management.
