Four naxals killed in encounter near Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, April 17, 2005

Four naxals including three women cadre were killed in an encounter with the police near Gunukurai village in GK Veedhi mandal on Sunday.

A combing party came face to face with the naxals suspected to be the members of Korukonda dalam in the morning. The Maoists opened fire at the police and the police reiterated and the operation took nearly fifteen minutes and six naxals however managed to escape according the Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Jain. The police recovered two 303 rifles, one DBBL and six kit bags from the site of the operation. The SP said a red alert was sounded after the incident.
