Demolition of two places of worship adjacent to the NH 9 as part of road widening on Saturday resulted in violent protests and road blockage affecting traffic for more than seven hours. There were tense moments for the police and district administration during the day long ordeal.
The situation was defused with the Minister for Minorities and Wakf.Mohammad Fariduddin ordering the reconstruction of the partially damaged place of worship. As word on demolition of the religion structures spread like a wild fire, women of the Muttangi village sat on the National Highway and organized a rasta rako.
