Public hearing on pollution causing industries in Jinnaram mandal of Medak district turned violent on Monday and the police had to resort to a lathicharge to dispel the agitated villagers. The public hearing for 18 industries slated for the day began at the Jinnaram mandal revenue officer under the supervision of the Joint Collector, Bhim Nayak.
According to police sources, the trouble began in the evening session when Dilani, a green peace activist was manhandled by one of the representatives of an industry. With the activist profusely bleeding with a head injury, villagers along with other NGOs who have been demanding closure of the pollution causing industries started attaching those form the industry. As the situation is going to be out of control, the police left no option except to use lathicharge and the hearing was called off.
