The State Government has left the power of sanction of works to the discretion of MLAs whey they tour villages in their constituencies as part of the 'Praja Patham' Programme from 11th April to 10th May. The MLAs can sanction works from their constituencies' development fund of Rs.50 lakhs during their interactive meetings with villagers at the month long Programme when they will also explain the Government achievements.
The MLAs will be accompanied by the local representatives and officials during their visit. The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting on Friday. The main highlights are that all villages to be covered from 11th April to 10th May, MLAs to tour their villages and this Programme is different form Janmabhoomi. The Public Relations Minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir said the Cabinet also approved the Resettlement and Rehabilitation policy for 2005 which aimed at allotting land to project evacuees in any sector. They would also get grant for construction of houses and sheds, transportation charges and displacement allowance amounting to 240 days of minimum wages.
