Security to persons with factional violence to be withdrawn - YSR

In a meeting held in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy said security will be withdrawn for persons with a record of involvement of factional violence, of involved in a crime or faced charge sheet or caused disturbance to public order. However, representatives would be exempt from the punishment from now onwards.
The Chief Minister said that he was determined to end factional violence without loss of time. He gave the police a timeframe of three months to do this. The DGP, SR.Sukumara said he was confident to handle the Anantapur situation. However, he denied the charge of police inaction in regard to Anantapur killings. He also denied the charge that the police were subservient to ruling party, citing as proof as to how the Telugu Desam had met with a crushing defeat in the elections.

The AICC general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs, Digvijay Singh said on Thursday that there is no ambiguity in the Congress stand on Telangana and the party is committee resolution on the issue. VMC takes up development works worth Rs.20 Crores

The Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation was taking up development works at a cost of Rs.20 crores, and had plans to upgrade its major roads, the Municipal Commissioner, N.Srikanth said on Thursday. Addressing a meeting with officials of the district convened by the Collector, Praveen Prakash, Mr.Srikanth said the tender process for maintenance of street lights would be finalized in 15 zones under the control of the VMC give the rest to private contractors for maintenance, he said adding that the conditions of the contract would be enable the VMC to step in if private contractors failed to perform to the satisfaction of the citizens.

Paritala Ravi files petition for security

Pseudo naxals blast ashram

Armed persons belong to the pseudo Naxalites group, CPI(ML) blasted a temple and a marriage hall on the premises of Naganadaswamy, a self styled godman's ashram near Bukkapatnam in the district in the early hours of Thursday. In the incident, two structures were completely damaged in the blast. According to the Police, six armed men went to the ashram in the wee hours and first blasted the temple and an idol of Subramaneswara Swamy by placing gelatin sticks and detonators around it and similarly a marriage hall were blasted.

Electoral Rolls revision

The special summary revision of electoral rolls with reference to January 1st 2005, as the qualifying date will take place from September 15th to October 15th. The process will commence with the draft publication of electoral rolls on September 15th.
Claims and objections will be accepted in the office of Election Returning Officers, Assistant EROs and all polling station locations till October 15th. A control room is being set up in the Secretariat with the telephone numbers 23454924 and 23450111-2727 to answer queries relating to revision. |
