PW and Janasakhti Rally in Hyderabad draws large crowd
Hyderabad

For the first time in the history, the Peoples War and Janashakti took out a huge rally and to the venue of public meeting held at Nizam College grounds. None of the underground leaders, however, was present. All the speakers at the meeting titled 'peace, self-reliance, and land to tiller' pinned hopes on the upcoming direct talks between the State Government and naxalites.

They were bitterly criticized of the anti-naxalite policy of the former Chief Minister N.Chandrababunaidu. Thousands of the sympathizers of the PW and Janashakti poured into the city from all parts of the Stated. They waked several kilometers in the procession and off it as the vehicles which shifted them were allowed to park far away from the venue. The PW emissisary for talks Varavararao led the procession. A mood of joy and bravado was visible in the crowd as they sang songs and raised slogans. The sons and dances of artistes of Jana Natya Mandali and Arunodaya, the cultural troupes of PW and Janashakti kept the people's spirits high. On the instructions from the Government, the police organized heavy bandobust in a big way.

The messages Jampanna, Amar were read out. A former Guntur committee member of the PW committee member of the PW Ganganna presided the meeting and termed it as historic one as it was considered a prelude to the talks. A retired professor from Delhi D.Prempati said there was no count of dalits killed in the name of naxalites in the State.

The people's War emissary, Varavarao said that a delegation would meet the Home Minister on 1st and submit a letter of acceptance for direct talks with the Government. He said that the talks would take place in the second week of October.

Prasada Rao takes over as NIMS Director
Hyderabad

Noted Heart Surgeon, D.Prasada Rao, took over as the Director of the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences on Thursday. Speaking to reporters, Dr.Rao said his main focus would be to work out 'socially driven traffics and make advanced medical care affordable in consultation with the Government.' He would request the Government for release of funds for expansion of NIMS.

TDP leader held in Anantapur

A Telugu Desam Party leader JCC Reddy of Juntur village in Pedda Pappur mandal was arrested under the Preventive Detention Act at Tadipatri on Thursday. He is a former ZPTC member of Pedda Pappur. He was arrested by a police team leader by Tadipatri DSP M.Raviprakash. He was an accused in six criminal cases and a has a rowdy sheet against him.

TRS expelled ZP Chief

The Karimnagar Zilla Parishad Chairman, KV Rajeswararao has been expelled from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for 'anti-party activities' and 'corrupt practices'. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, the Backward Classes Welfare Minister, V.Laxmikantharao and TRS chief coordinators Yadagiri Reddy and Satish Mahajan claimed that the party had sufficient strength in the ZP to remove him from the post.

Kidnapped SI in Praja court
Khammam

Prakash Soni, a Sub-Inspector of Chattisgarh police who was kidnapped by the PW a fortnight ago is safe in the custody of naxalites. He was produced in a 'praja court' organized by the South Bastar division committee of the PW in the forest on Wednesday evening. The praja court was attended by more than fifteen thousand people from the villages. The PW had extended the deadline for acceptance of their demands by another five days.

Chief Minister instructs to develop naxal hit areas
Srikakulam

The Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy directed the District Collector and SP in the course of video conference on Wednesday to identify extremenist affected areas in the district and initiate measures for speedy development of these areas. Senior officials' should visit these areas regularly and settle disputes among tribals. He said top priority should be given when recruitment was undertaken for posts like home guards.
One Man Commission to inquire on AU VC

After a prolonged battle by the Joint Action Committee headed by Prof.Surappadu to protect Andhra University, the State Government has appointed Justice Vamana Rao to inquire into the allegations on the Vice-Chancellor Prof.YC.Simhadri. The commission will inquire into the allegations and if found guilty, appropriate action will be taken against the Vice-Chancellor.
