The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy has described as crucial the Chief Ministers’ meeting the Union Home Ministry is convening in Hyderabad on Tuesday. In a press conference on Monday, the Chief Minister said that the underlying intention of the Central Government was to have a coordinated approach among all the affected stated for the naxal problem. The Union Home Minister, Shirvraj Patil would be presiding over the meeting sponsored by the Centre.
The Andhra Pradesh Government has initiated steps to have dialogue with naxals, the meeting has got significance in this direction. After lifting of ban on Peoples War, the activities of both naxals and police will be presented in the meeting. The meeting will discuss various issues to take the situation.

Fire Mishap at INS Kakinada

Navy's minesweeper, INS Kakinada caught fire, while it was berthed in the dry dock of Naval Dockyard on Monday afternoon causing extensive damage. There were no causalities and according to reliable sources there would not be much danger as all explosive material on board had been removed before the vessel had come for refit at the Matsya wing of the Dockyard. Fire fighting by the Naval Staff was in full swing till late in the night.
