Judicial probe into Anantapur murders
Hyderabad

The Government has announced a judicial probe into the political murders that have been committed in Anathapur district during the last 15 years. This was decided at a Cabinet meeting. Speaking to media persons, the Information and Public Relations Minister, Ali Mohad.Shabbir, said the one man commission of inquiry headed by a retired judge of the High Court would have to submit its report within three months.

The meetings choose the 15 year period from 1989 to September 17th, 2004 for the probe so as to cover not only the killings that were committed during the Telugu Desam time but also the Congress tenure.

DSP transferred
Hyderabad

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy today ordered the transfer of B.Balanarasimha Reddy, the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Anantapur Division who is in the thick of a controversy in the wake of a spate of political murders in his area.

Many TDP activists were hacked to death in his area limits. Taking considering the law and order situation in the district, the Government has taken this decision to transfer the DSP.

Liberation day fete witness violence
Hyderabad

Hyderabad Liberation Day and celebrations in several Telengana districts witnessed violence leading to police lathi chare and bursting of teargas shells. The celebrations turned violent when the BJP activists tried to forcibly enter the police parade grounds in Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and other places leading to lathicharg.

The BJP had decided to hold celebrations without the Government permission. In Karimnagar, the police caned the BJP leaders who tried to enter the police headquarters. The BJP vice president and other leaders were injured. Hundreds of party workers were detained and taken to the police training camp where they climbed atop a building and hoisted the tri-color flag.

Mr. Indra Sena Reddy and Mr.Vidyasagar Rao flayed the Government for refusing permission for celebrations. Army officials lodged a complaint with the police alleging trespass into Defence area.

Tributes to Vallabhai Patel
Hyderabad

The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy paid floral tributes to the former Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhai Patel on Friday to commemorate Hyderabad Liberation Day here.

He was accompanied by the Ministers for Rural Development, D.Srinivas and the Minister for Information and Public Relations Md.Ali Shabbir at the statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

Krishna District Collector back

K.Prabhakara Reddy has been reinstated Collector of Krishna District, who was transferred during the first day of Krishna Pushkarams where he was made responsible for failure in arresting the stamped in which four people were killed. The Police Commissioner and the District Collector was immediately transferred. The Chief Secretary has issued orders to this effect.
Gang kills man and molested wife
Srikakulam

A gang of five criminals killed a person and molested his wife and decamped with Rs.15000/- and gold ornaments including mangala sutras. The woman in a dazed condition was brought to the hospital and the police are investigating the case.
