Chief Minister extends relief to poor patients
Hyderabad

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday ordered supply of blood free of cost to indigent patients admitted to Government Hospitals from blood banks run by AP Vaidya Vidhana Parishad.The Chief Minister has issued these orders to clear of the uncertainty among administrators of Government hospitals.

He also gave instructions that CT scan should be done free of cost for poor patients in Government Hospitals. He decided that the Government should permit opening of two new nursing colleges at Kakinada and Medak in view of the growing demand for nurses.

Faction rivalry takes two lives
Anantapur

In a factional rivalry for gaining supremacy over a village politics has taken two lives. According to police, a former militant of the CPI(ML) KS Group was allegedly waylaid and hacked to death by the former Sarpanch of Nagireddipalli near Gollaladoddi cross roads. In another incident, one person was allegedly dragged out of his house and shot him dead on Thursday.

Naxal peace talks – No compromise on arms
Hyderabad

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy has reiterated his stand against Naxalites carrying weapons during ceasefire period. He has ruled out a compromise on this issue and further said that the Government has gone more than half way with Naxalites and expressed his inability to go beyond.

AU Students lathicharged

The police arrested eleven persons including the dismissed Hindi Professor, S.Surappadu, after lathicharging students and others who tried to barge into the administrative builinding of Andhra University on Thursday. The trouble started when the activists of the Progressive Democratic Students Union from five north Andhra districts who gathered at the tent put up by the JAC for Protection of Andhra University decided to storm the administrative building housing the chambers of the VC. The activists and JAC members earlier held a meeting raising slogans against the VC and immediate recall.

Pensioners seek more benefits

The Federation suggested creation of a pensioners' welfare fund according to a press release by the Chairman of the Federation.
