The police made a lathicharge to disperse the farmers who laid a siege to Prakasam Bhavan demanding Nagarjuna Sagar water for irrigation leading to tension. The enraged farmers staged a Rasta rook on the Chenni-Kolkatta NH 5 to protest against the 'indifference' of the Government and the high-handedness of the police.

More than one thousand farmers came in procession to Ongole to ask the Government to release the water by September 20th and help them raise at least dalwa crop. They have arrived by 40 tractors. They laid a siege to Prakasam Bhavan, the Collectorate, by parking their tractors across the three main gates and prevented employees from leaving their offices. The police intervened and as a last resort made a lathicharge and dispersed the farmers.
