TRS chief remarks will be examined

The Chief Minister on his way to Srikakulam district to participate in 'Rajiv Palle Bata' programme commented that the remarks made by K.Chandrasekhara Rao were totally irresponsible. He said the remarks, will further strain the relationship between Congress and TRS party. He stated that the people were upset over his remarks.
The party had taken serious exemption to his comments, and declined to comment and the party high command would take care of this issue. Meanwhile, the Congress MLA P.Janardhana Reddy set a two day deadline for the TRS president to withdraw his words against the AICC President Sonia Gandhi and the Chief Minister and tender unconditional apology or face an agitation.

Helmets made compulsory - again

In the wake of recently increasing accidents, the Government has decided to make wearing of helmets mandatory for all two wheeler drivers but gave an exemption to the pillion riders. This would come into force from November 3rd according to the Transport Minister S.Santosh Reddy. A documentary film was made about the road accidents and measures to be taken for road safety. In this context, the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy said that this will be extended to Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam and other districts in a phased manner.

The Minister for Labour and Employment, G.Vinod on Sunday complimented the management and the staff of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant for achieving a turnaround. After holding talks with the management and the Trade union leaders at Ukkunagaram, he spoke to the reporters that it was a rare credit on their part to record a profit of Rs. 2,500 crores in the current year.

Transco preparing to meet the demand

The AP Transco is strengthening its power system to meet the demand for karif session. The CMD of AP Transco in a communication to CMDs of Discoms and filed officers stated the power system has been turned to meet the energy requirement to 170 million units daily if the Srisailam and Nagarjunasar reservoir levels are further improved following another spell of good rain.

Rs.17 crores revenue to Railways

In a statement issued by the East Coast Railway Waltair senior Commercial Divisional Manager, said that the revenue to the Railways on account of Krishna Pushkarams is Rs 17 Crores. He stated that 112 special trains were operated from various places to transport the pilgrims on the mega event of Krishna Pushkarams.

AIDS cases are on increase

The prevalence of HIV infection in the State was alarming with fifty per cent of the new patients being in the age group of 15 to 24. Among pregnant women, HIV prevalence was 1.25 percent and in seven districts according to K.Damayanthi, project director, AP State AIDS Control Society. She said the same while speaking at a seminar on 'HIV and Gastrointestinal tract' at Global Hospital on Sunday.

Chief Minister's transit halt

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy on his way to Srikakulam had a transit halt at the INS Dega airport on Sunday. He was received by several Congress leaders with a warm welcome. In a brief chat with the Minister for Labour and Employment, G.Vinod, the City Congress Committee president Dronamraju Srinivas and others flew to Srikakulam to participate in the Rajiv Palle Bata programme.
Responding to a question on the Andhra University affairs, he said had not received the file relation to the institution of judicial probe into the alleged wrong doing of the Andhra University Vice-Chancellor YC Simhadri.
