Pulichintala Project to begin on 15th October
Hyderabad

Arrangements are in full swing for commencing the work of Pulichintala project on October 15th. The Government has awarded execution of the project to the Hyderabad based Srinivasa Constructions. The Government plans to take up the construction of an early take up construction after ‘bhoomi puja’ by the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy on October 15th.

A special relief and resettlement package has been finalized for the families of the 12 villages in Guntur and Nalgonda districts which are likely to be affected. The package envisages construction of townships with pucca houses, roads, drinking water and religious places. Clearance has been given for immediate construction of approach roads to the dam site.

Juvenile home employee arrested
Hyderabad

A male Nursing Orderly at the Saidabad Juvenile Home, K.Balram allegedly sexually assaulted an inmate of the Home. The shocking revelation on Friday, allegations against the Home Superintendent, Siddiqui that he attempted to shield the MNO led the arrest. Cases were registered against Balaram. The ghastly act was reportedly committed on 30th August and cam to light only on Friday.

Government Doctor held in Cuddapah
Cuddapah

The ACB officials arrested an orthopedic surgeon working in the Cuddapah Government Hospital on Friday when he allegedly took a bribe of Rs.4,000 from a labourer who required a second surgery on his fractured leg. The ACB Inspector, Y.Srinivasa Reddy said the doctor demanded the bribe for performing surgery and acting on the complaint, the ACB officials arrested the doctor and will be produced in the Special ACB court at Nellore.

Bombs recovered from TDP activist
Anantapur

The police seized 10 country made bombs and arrested two TDP activists in this connection at Thimmanicheruvu village of Anathapur district on Friday. According to the DSP of Tadipatri, M.Ravi Prakash, a team led by the SI Siva Reddy raided the village and seized bombs.

Ganja seized in Kakinada
Kakinada The DSP Rampachodavaram, Satyanarayana intercepted a lorry at Donkarayi in the agency on Friday and seized two thousand kg of processed Ganja, stiffed in 62 gunny bags valued at over Rs.20 lakhs. Five persons were arrested in this connection.

Visakhapatnam Sub-Collector detained by Naxals
Visakhapatnam

The incident of PW naxalites detaining the Sub-Collector of Paderu, Sudarshan Reddy, in the agency area late on Thursday night could not be considered as a serious one according to the Minister for R & B, Jakkampudi Ramamohanarao on Friday.

Speaking to reporters, the Minister said the PW leaders involved in the incident could be of local level and hence much should not be read into the incident even as the peace talks are on the way. When some reporters approached the Sub-Collector at the end of the District Review Meeting, he refused to elaborate on the incident.
Girijan Sangham threatens agitational program
Hyderabad

The Andhra Pradesh Girijan Sangham has appealed the State Government to fulfill its election promise of recognizing Lambada tribal 'tandas' as gram Panchayats. A resolution on this and other subjects were adopted at a two day meeting of the Sangham held here on 5th and 6th October.

In a statement, the president and secretary said a decision had been taken to launch an agitation from November 1st, if the Government could not concede the demand.
