Lathi charge against farmers
Ongole

The police made a lathi charge and fired teargas shells to disperse agitating farmers when they resorted to throwing stones at the Collector's bungalow injuring two constables on 4th October. The farmers demanding an assurance from the Government for release of Nagarjuna Sagar water for paddy crop in Zone II from October.

The agitating farmers closed the three gates of the Collectorate and did not allow the employees to leave the office till late in the night. As a last resort, the police are compelled to lathi charge and teargas shells to disburse the agitating farmers. During the process, several farmers were injured.

High power committee to conduct study
Hyderabad

The Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education has constituted a high power committee to conduct a scientific study on the rationalization of staffing pattern and other connected aspects to lay down the basis for determining block grants to universities.

According to a press release issued by the Secretary, V.Jayarami Reddy, said on Tuesday that the Chairman KC Reddy had constituted the four member committee.

Assistant Engineer suspended in Adilabad

An Assistant Executive Engineer of the Social Welfare Department has been suspended and a Revenue Inspector transferred after they are found guilty in a rice misappropriation case.

The Case related to misappropriation of 200 quintals of SGRY rice to be used as component for construction of a SC hostel building at Baba Sagar village in Koutala mandal.

TDP leader in police custody in Anantapur
Anantapur

The Two Town police on Tuesday took into custody R.Chowdary, a TDP leader of Dharmavaram constituency and the husband of the TDP ZPTC member from Tadimarri Manjula Devi for possessing six country made bombs. The police serched the premises of the accused and seized the bombs.

Engineering College Principal denies charge
Hyderabad

The Principal of the DVR College of engineering and technology denied that he had any knowledge of his students diverting college buses to the Gandhi Hospital. He said the college was closed that day to cool down tempers of the students. The Principal said management had not yet identified the students who were involved in the incident. He further said, the college was closed till the week end to avoid further trouble.

Doctors boycott duties
Visakhapatnam

In the wake of the unfortunate incident took place in Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, the Junior Doctors in KGH have boycotted the work and attended only emergency cases. The Junior Doctors held a demonstration in front of the KGH. Both the doctors and junior doctors demanded the 'unconditional release' of the arrested junior doctors of Gandhi Hospital.

They sought action against the engineering students. Addressing a press conference , the president of the KGH and AMC unit of the AP Government Doctors Association condemned the attack on the Gandhi Hospital and sought protection to them.
