Firing near DGP Office – Gujarat Police arrests Naseeruddin

Tension prevailed in some parts of the State capital after the police shot dead a person to foil an attempt to forcibly take away Maulana Naseeruddin - President of the Tehreek Tehfooz Sariya-e-Islam, from the custody of a Gujarat police team near the State police Headquarters on Sunday night. It is reported four persons were injure in lathicharge. The news of the death of Maujahid, a supporter of Naseeruddin spread like a wild fire, hundreds of people including women laid siege to Yashoda Hospital demanding that the police produce Naseeruddin.

Concerned over the sudden turn of events, the city police commissioner, RP Singh appealed to people not get carried away by emotions and observe restrain as the police had nothing to do with Naseeruddin’s arrest. The police indicated that a case was being registered in connection with the firing incident. On hearing about the arrest, Naseeruddin’s supporters who were waiting outside the DGP’s office blocked the road and many persons including women rushed there.

The Gujarat team brought Naseeruddin out of the DGP’s office in a van through the rear gate. The agitators overpowered the policemen and took away Naseeruddin. The Gujarat police caught up with the demonstrators in front of Ravindra Bharati and opened four rounds of fire. Mr.RP Singh told reporters at his office. Musjahid who sustained two bullet injuries was declared dead at Yashoda Hospital.

Later the special team took away Naseeruddin to Gujarat, the Commissioner confirmed.

Naxalites kills police constable in Warangal
Warangal

According to reports, the naxalites of the Praja Pratighatana and Communist Party of United States of India were expected to arrive to hold a ‘praja court’. An eight member police team lead by Eturunagaram Circle Inspector went to a place where they chanced upon a squad of Praja Pratighata. The police grappled with the naxalites in a bid to overpower them. One naxals, carrying an SLR opened fire killing the constable.

The naxals managed to fled the scene. This is the first incident after the Government and the naxalites have agreed for a ceasefire.

Naxals surrender in Nalgonda
Nalgonda

Three naxalites, including two boys surrendered to the police on Sunday. According to them, they joined the Krishnapatti squad of CPI (Moist) group having attracted by revolutionary songs. They underwent military training for 15 days in Mahabubnagar district before deputed to the Kanagal and other squads operating in the district.

Rural job scheme on November 6th

The Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Workers’ Association is conducting a round table on the rural development guarantee scheme, the draft of which was released recently by the Centre, on November 6th for evolving steps to be implemented in the State. Several IAS officers will attend the round table. Naxals meeting at Adilabad
Movvad (Adilabad Dist.)

The Communist Party of India (Maoist) and Janashakti emissaries on Sunday in a meeting held at Movvad village, the emissaries Varavarao, Gaddar and Kalyan Rao said that the agenda for the talks would be the same as agreed to during the first round of talks. Kalyanarao was highly critical of the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Director General of Police, SR Sukumara for their insistence of lying down of arms.

On the land issue, Varavarao demanded that the Government implement the Land Transfer Regulation 1 of 1970. He said unless tribals were given right to their lands there could not be any talk of self sufficiency. If the implementation remained tardy, the revolutionary parties would launch a struggle for self determination by tribals.The emissaries unveiled a martyr’s column at Movvad and one more at Balanpur. The cultural troupe of Jana Natya Mandali sang revolutionary songs.
