Warangal farmers raid seed shop
Warangal

Nearly more than 200 farmers hailing from Chintha Nekkonda village tried to raid a seed and pesticide shop and staged a Rasta roko for nearly four hours. The farmers complained that the Sumo cotton seeds supplied by the owner of the shop failed to flower and as a result they lost the crop to an extent of nearly 500 acres in the village. They demanded compensation. Sensing trouble, all the local shops and establishments in the locality were shut down.

Pesticide stocks sealed
Kakinada

Officials of the Department of Agriculture in an intensive checks conducted at pesticide shops in the district have sealed stocks worth more than fifteen lakhs. Out of 908 shops, they have inspected 457 shops and found irregularities such as non compliance of procedures in maintenance of records. Official sources revealed on Tuesday said 654 fertilizer shops were inspected and stocks worth Rs.4,14,295 sealed.

IGP warns stern action on land grabbing
Warangal

The Inspector General of Police, Warangal region Ish Kumar warned that the police will initiate action against anybody including naxalite groups trying to grab lands illegally. He said the department accorded priority to serve the people and anyone trying to disturb peace in the society would be dealt with sternly and there will be no exception who violates the Constitution.

Rock inscription found
Kurnool

A rock inscription believed to be of Vijayanagara Empire has been discovered at Kadimetla village in Yemmiganur mandal of Kurnool district. A research scholar G.Venkateswarulu of Sri Potti Sriramulu University of History, Culture and Archaeology at Srisailam who scanned the village as a part of the research project came across the inscription abonded in a field.

The scholar found two Neolithic sites and collected stone axes, a lid of the pot with an ornamental elephant figure, terracotta beads, broken shells, glass, bangles and pot used for melting metals. The Dean of the University, Chenna Reddy said they were planning to visit the site next month for more details.

Land survey amid tight security in Guntur
Guntur

Land survey was conducted at Chityala in Bellamkonda mandal of Guntur district amidst tight security for acquiring land for the proposed Pulichintala Mutli Purpose Project. Nearly 40 surveyors escorted by fifty police personnel landed in buses in two villages on Tuesday.

11 teams began smoothly in Chintyala with no resistance the residents of the Chityala Thanda posing a number of questions stopped the Special Deputy Collector for Land Acquisition from proceeding with the work. The RDO who accompanied the team convened a grama Sabha where he along with other officials clarified all the doubts and recorded their objections and suggestions for nearly two hours.
Naxalite surrenders before Cuddapah SP
Cuddapah

A member of Bahuda dalam of CPI (Maoists) surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, VC Sajjanar on Tuesday. He was involved in a number of cases including blastings and gunning down . He surrendered due to his ill health and family problems.
