Jail for Sri Jayendra Saraswti till Wednesday - Lathi charge on VHP activists

Sri Jayendra Saraswti failed to get relief from Madras High Court on his bail petition and the Justice R.Balasubramanyam adjourned the hearing of the bail application to Wednesday. In this context, raising protests from nook and corner are going heavily.

The rally by the activists of Viswa Hindu Parishad and followers of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, protesting against the arrest of Sri Jayendra Saraswti turned to be violent and the police resorted to Lathicharge. The procession started from Sundarayya Park where several Peethadhipathis and leaders of the Viswa Hindu Parishad joined a large crowd on the busy RTC cross roads for over a half an hour and damaged the windshields of passing RTC buses.

Almost all the Peethadhipathis participated in the rally and it went towards Tank Bund and Secretariat the agitated followers staged a Rasta roko on the Tank Bund.

At an another meeting, the Peethadhipathis appealed the archaks in the State to stage protests on Sunday and Monday by not giving prasadam and theertha to devotees but going ahead with regular poojas and naivedhyam for the presiding deities.
