Court directs not to finalize tenders of medium irrigation projects
Hyderabad

A judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday directed the concerned authorities not to finalize the process of tenders for medium irrigation projects till the case is further heard on Thursday. Upon a writ petition filed by Jankakiram on behalf of Madhucon Constructions, the petitioner complained that the Government issued orders on October 27th declaring that no company can bid for works costing more than 150 crores or can bid for more than three packages.

The petitioner said that it was one among the 46 short listed contractors identified for taking up the medium irrigation packages. The Judge directed the Government that the miscellaneous stay petitions to be listed on Thursday and restrained from finalizing the contracts.

MRPS planning agitation

The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi has asked the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy, to spell out his stand on the Supreme Court ruling striking down the sub classification of SCs. Speakers at the general body meeting of the MRPS on Tuesday decided to launch a peaceful agitation force the Government to pass a resolution in the Assembly and ensure legislation in Parliament to bring legality to the sub classification. The MRPS founder president M.Krishna other leaders spoke.

Pulichintala incident - CPI (Maoist) disowns its involvement

The CPI (Maoist) has disowned Sunday's Pulichintala incident in which, a plaque installed during the 'Bhoomi Pooja' performed by the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy was damaged and a shelter for laborers burnt. The CPI (Maoist) Krishna Pati Dalam secretary, Sagar demanded a thorough inquiry into it by members of the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee so that the truth would come out.

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy, assured women that he will ensure sanction of one crore rupees to Self Help Groups in each mandal every year and release revolving fund due to all eligible groups soon. Speaking a well attended meeting at Nizamsagar on his short visit to the district, he said that the Government was committed to the welfare of women, SCs, STs and other weaker sections. The said the party's poll promise of extending loans to women groups at 25 paisa interest, he said all the banks to do so and accordingly they were implementing it.
