Bhoomi Pooja performed for Polavaram Project works
Polavaram

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy has performed Bhoomi Pooja for the Godavari Right Canal named 'Indira Sagar' at Itikulakota village on Monday. Addressing on this occasion, he said the proposed canal as a boon for the drought hit farmers in the two districts.

It is proposed to bring under its ayacut to an extent of 3.20 lakh acres in the upland parts of Krishna and West Godavari districts besides transfer of 84.70 TMCs of Godavari waters into the Krishna basin. A sum of Rs 25000 per household would be allocated from the project fund in addition to an equal amount to be sanctioned by the Government for the purpose.

Police denies permission to Janashakti in Khammam

The Janashakti which has planned to organize a public rally in Khammam on Tuesday and made arrangements in a big way in the town for the rally was denied permission by the police. The rally which was to mark the death anniversary of Chandra Pulla Reddy and the party cadre had made all the arrangements for the function.

Conference on Good Governance
Hyderabad

The Speaker, KR Suresh Reddy on Monday reviewed the arrangements for the first India and Asia Regional Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference to be held from 17th November to 22nd November. The conference is aimed at evolving good governance practices and policies. The Lok Sabha speaker, Somnath Chatterjee will deliver inaugural address.

Speakers of all the Assemblies in the country, delegates from London, Bangladesh, Provincial Assemblies of Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan and North West Frontier (Pakistan) are expected to participate in the conference.

Stamp on Tenneti released
Visakhapatnam

Commemorative postage stamps of Rs 5 denomination will be released in honour of late Tenneti Viswanadham on Wednesday. The Postmaster General, SK Chakrabarti will release the stamp at Kalabharati Auditorium on the occasion of 25th death anniversary of Tenneti Viswanadham. This was disclosed by the Tenneti Viswanadham Memorial Committee president DV Subba Rao and a documentary on the life of Dr.Viswandham will be telecast on Saptagiri Channel of Doordarashan at 10am on Wednesday and 8.30pm on Thursday.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday filed libel cases against the TDP Legislator of Penugonda and a vernacular daily in the Pulivendula Junior Civil Judge court. Mr.Jagan Mohan Reddy charged Mr. Paritala Ravindra with leveling unwarranted allegations against him. He charged the management of the telugu daily with publishing reports that damaged his reputation. Mr.Reddy said before the Judge that he would withdraw the suits if they tender an unconditional apology.
