Mazdoor Sangh urged not to increase RTC Fare
Hyderabad

The APSRTC Mazdoor Sangh has urged the State Government not to go for a fare hike immediately but wait for a couple of months to observe the situation as any rise in the fares could lead to fall in the occupancy ratio. The general secretary of the Union in a press release issued on Sunday said that hike in the fare is not the solution for the losses of RTC.

The APSRTC Employees Union State president, B.Rama Rao demanded that sales tax exemption on diesel consumption of the RTC on the lines of the facility in vogue for the railways. It is imperative to offset a burden of Rs.180 crores on account of the recent diesel price hike and cumulative burden of Rs500 crores due to diesel price hike thrice since the UPA assumed power at the Centre, he said while addressing the union's zonal meeting at Cuddapah.

Protests plan by Mala Mahanadu
Hyderabad

The Mala Mahanadu has decided to organize protest meetings on November 17th in all mandal headquarters of the State to demand immediate implementation of the Supreme Court verdict which struck down the sub classification of the Scheduled Castes. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the president of Mala Mahanadu PV Rao said party cadres would organize dharna on that day.

Case booked against Naxalites in Adilabad
Adilabad

The Esgaon police on Sunday registered a case against the secretary of Communist Party of India (Maoist) north Telangana special Zone committee, Chandranna and 25 others for instigating villagers at Kadamba in Kagazmagar mandal to take up arms against the Government and arms struggle.

Janashakti cautions police on raids-Home Minister to intervene.
Hyderabad

The CPI (ML) Janashakti, which is participating in talks with the State Government along with the CPI (Maoist), appealed to the Home Minister, K.Jana Reddy to stop raids/arrests by the police in Karimnagar, West Godavari and Warangal districts.

It alleged that the police had commenced combing operations in Kamalapuram which would lead to tension and disrupt the cease fire agreement. In a letter addressed to the Home Minister sought his intervention to ensure that the Government gave permission for the public meeting to be held in Khammam, Tirmaalgiri, Bheemgal, Boddupadu etc.,

They alleged that the police were registering cases without any reason and were denying constitutional right to organize meetings by with-holding permission at the last minute at Asifabad.

Tension prevails in Karimnagar
Karimnagar

The naxalites had secured permission from the High Court for organizing the meeting on the outskirts of the town between 4pm to 6pm but the police on Sunday foiled the Janashakti group's martyr's memorial meetings. The entire town was under the grip of Police and imposed 144 section. Police pickets were posted at all important points.

Police also took measures to ensure that no sympathizer or villagers to attend the meeting from the interior villagers. Chandranna alleged that the police were trying to disturb the peace talks process by trying to obstruct martyrs memorial meetings. He charged that the police are not following the instructions of the Government. He said peace talks will be hit if the same situation continues.
