Blasts in the capital – Tensions in the twin cities continues
Hyderabad

A mysterious explosion in two college buses on the city fringes another blast occurred at Kalanjali show room on Thursday night shocked the city police. The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy along with some of his cabinet colleges including the Home Minister were attending a programme on AIDS at the nearby Jubliee Hall when gelatine sticks exploded around 7.45pm.

Everyone took it for a short circuit between high tension wires but forensic experts confirmed gelatine sticks were used in the explosion. Police Top officials convened an emergency meeting and sounded a state of high alert. The Central Zone DCP, Sreeninvasulu heared a huge thunder while supervising security arrangements at the Jubliee Hall. Due to the impact of the blast, the galsspanes of the HACA Bhavan offices were shattered and a tree branch too snapped and fell on the road.

The City Police Commissioner, RP Singh raised suspicions of sabotage after interacting with forensic experts.

Working women on agitation
Hyderabad

The All India Trade Union Congress and Working Women's Forum will agitate in New Delhi during the winter session of Parliament to highlight the problems faced by them especially anganwadi workers and helpers. According to Amarjit Kaur, AITUC national secretary and WWF nation Convenor, the agitation will forum on the problems of 14 lakh anganwadi workers/helpers working seven lakh centers under the Integrated Child Development Scheme.

She told a press conference on Thursday that only five percent of the total 14 crore working women in the country were working the organized sector. The State Convenor of WWF BV Vijaya Lakshmi said the organization would soon launch an agitation on behalf of the sanitary workers in the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.

Intermediate admission cards dispatched

Hyderabad

The Secretary of the Board of Intermediate Education, Shashank Goel has informed the first year students that admission cards are being sent to their respective colleges through regional inspection officers.

Students admitted in the current academic year can collect the same from the principals concerned after due identification according to a press release.

Janashakti holds martyrs day
Khammam

The CPI (ML-Janashakti) will hold the martyrs day rally in Khammam on 9th November to mark the death anniversary of Chandra Pullareddy, the architect of the armed struggle in the Godavari Valley according to the party leader Chandranna on Thursday. Addressing a news conference, he said the party would observe November as the martyrs' commemoration month, organizing rallies and public meetings in districts.

He said his party was not indulging in any political campaign and hence the issue of giving up arms should not hamper talks between the Government. He stated that the revolutionary parties would abide by the understanding which brought the two sides for talks.

SBI officers and employees on strike
Hyderabad

The State Bank of India Officers' Association and SBI Staff Union Hyderabad Circle in separate statements issued on Thursday will participate in one day strike on 5th through out the country protesting against the anti Labour and anti personnel policies of the management. Employees in over 800 branches will participate in the strike.
