The bandh call given by the State BJP was largely peaceful barring stray incidents of violence and detention of New Delhi bound AP Express in Warangal district for over two hours. Reports reveal a mixed response with only a few places reporting disruption of normal life. BJP leaders however, claimed that the bandh, called to protest against the neglect of the rural areas was a success. The bandh received good response in Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Chittor and Nellore districts. Shops, business establishments and educational institutions were also closed in Anantapur, Nellore, Tirupati, Bhimavaram and Adilabad towns. Speaking to reporters, the BJP president N.Indrasena Reddy claimed that the success of the bandh indicated that the people had lost faith on the Congress Government.

A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, comprising the Chief Justice, Devinder Gupta and the judge, G.Rohini on Tuesday refused to interfere with the orders of the Government making wearing of helmets compulsory for drivers of two wheelers in the twin cities. The bench was closing the writ petition filed by Raghunandan who contented that the helmets of good quality were not available and the Government cannot insist on wearing helmets.

The AP Transco has filed revenue and tariff proposals for 2005-06 to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission without proposing any increase in tariff for domestic and commercial sectors and continuing free power supply to the agricultural sector. AP Transco and the discoms have place their ARR for 2005-06 at Rs.11,118 crores, which shows a deficit of Rs1,906 crores.

Kurnool
Two persons were hacked to death in Adoni town of Kurnool district on Tuesday. According to reports three brothers, working as stone cutters at Baichigeri near Adoni came to the town to collect payment from those whom they supplied stone chips, were attacked by the rival gang. In this attack two persons were died and one escaped.
