Pratibha Awards 2004 presented
Hyderabad
Pratibha awards for 2004 will be presented at Lal Bahadur Stadium on November 25th. Awardees of EAMCET, ICET, ECET and CEEP and also top rankers belonging to the State and admitted to IIT JEE, IIM, JIMPER, FMC, should report at 8am at Government Polytechnic, Masab Tank (male) and Kamala Nehru Polytechnic for Women Exhibition Grounds (female) according to an official release.

SCs website launched

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday launched a website sctobc.org. at a function organized by the Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes Youth Welfare and Cultural Association.
He also released a CDs on welfare schemes for SCs, STs, minorities, physically challenged and women being implemented by both Central and Ste Governments.

Uniform fee structure for all private Junior Colleges

Speaking at a seminar on 'The relevance of EAMCET in present scenario' organized by the Affiliated Private Junior College Managements Association, the Minister for Higher Education P.Venkateswararao said that the Government would ensure a uniform fee structure in private Junior Colleges from the next academic year.
He said that the private college managements responsible for suicide by students preparing for EAMCET in the recent past. He observed that some management were running their residential colleges by violating the Government rules and warned that recognition for such colleges would be withdrawn.
He said that the Government appointed a committee to receive feedback on the issue from the college managements, students, parents and people from different walks of life.

Sri Jayendra Saraswathi formally arrested

The Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi who is in the Central Prison here in connection with a murder case, was formally arrested in a case relating to the attack on S.Radhakrishnan, a former associate of the Sankara Mutt, Kancheepuram in Chennai a couple of years ago. The Chief Investigating Officer in the murder case met the Acharya and served him the arrest intimation in the attack case.
As every one are aware of the fact that Sri Jayendra Saraswathi was in judicial custody till November 26th, the police officer served a formal arrest warrant and the seer received it.

Telugu Ganga for Chennai

The State Government released Telugu Ganga water to Chennai from Kandaleru to coincide with the birthday of Sri Satya Saibaba of Puttaparti who helped in lining the canal. The gates of Kandaleru were lifted without any fanfare. The initial release was restricted to 200 cuses as a safeguard against leakages and it will be increased to 500 cuses later.

Strike call by Singareni Unions

Five revolutionary trade unions of Singareni Collieries Company ltd., have called for one day toke strike in all mines, including open cast and underground mines of the Singareni on Wednesday demanding the implementation of seventh wage board for the employees.
The Singareni management officials have appealed to employees not to participate in the strike which is illegal as the trade unions, which serve strike notice are not recognized trade unions. The Police have made elaborate arrangements to avert any untoward incidents that may take place.

Governor worships at Srisailam Temple
Srisailam
The Governor, Sushil Kumar Shinde, and his wife offered prayers at Srisailam on Monday. The couple performed Abhishekam at Mallikarjuna Swamy temple and kumkumarchana at Sri Bramarabhika temple. The District Collector Vikas Raj, and VRK Mohanrao, SP received the Governor and accorded 'Purnakumbham' welcome to the couple.
