Probe into exchange of fire
Hyderabad

The Home Minister, K.Jana Reddy has ordered a departmental inquiry into the exchange of fire between the police and naxalites belonging to Praja Pratigathana in Warangal district in which a constable was killed. In a statement issued on Tuesday, he conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members and said the police maintained utmost restraint even though naxalites opened fire.

He said that the Government would extend all help, including financial assistance to the constable's family. Salary for the constable's service period would be given to his family besides providing employment to his wife or any other family member.

Case registered against Pratigathana Commander
Warangal

The Mangapet police have registered a murder case against Pratigathana commander Bhupathi and his associates holding them responsible for the death of the armed reserve constable, N.Madan. According to sources, Bhupathi reportedly admitted to a section of media persons that he has fired at the police, but held the Circle Inspector V.Tirupati responsible for the incident.

He also allegedly said that he did not expect the police to come and thought it was the CPUSI naxals who were trying to attack him.

Fake currency seized on Tuesday
Ongole

The police on Tuesday arrested five persons on the charge of circulating fake currency notes and seized fake currency worth Rs.1.5 lakhs from them. The seized currency is in the denomination of one hundred rupee notes. The District Superintendent of Police, Mahesh Chandra Laddha constituted a special team lead by the DSP to check the fake currency rocket.

Raghupati Venkaiah Award for VB Rajendra Prasad

VB Rajendra Prasad who has produced several hit movies has been selected for the prestigious Raghupati Venkaiah Memorial Award for his outstanding contribution to the film industry. The award is to be given away by the Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy at the Nandi Award function to be held on 6th November.

Mr.Prasad has produced 34 films and directed more than 22 films in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. He has been the president of the Film Nagar Cooperative Housing Society for the past twelve years and among his achievements is the construction of the 'Film Nagar Daiva Sannidhanam' a temple with nine deities.

Counselling for Doctors' promotions
Hyderabad

The Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors' Association on Tuesday requested all the doctors appointed in 1987 who are eligible for promotion to the post of Deputy Civil surgeons to send their applications and CRs to the Director of Health for inclusion in the list. The appeal comes in the wake of representations from districts that names of some eligible doctors have not been included.

According to the press release issued by the President and secretary general of the association said counselling for promotions would be held on November 29th.

Sources reveal that the meeting would finalize the approach to be adopted during the talks for insisting of lying down of arms and working out modalities if extremists accept the proposal.

The TDP seeks a probe into Santha Cheruvu Works. The execution of works relating to the development of Santha Ceruvu allegedly without proper plan and work order has now come in handy to the Telugu Desam leader to criticize the Government and also the civic authorities blaming them of indulging in gross misuse of the valuable taxpayer's money.
