Fake permits racket busted in Ongole
Ongole

The police have busted a racket in which fake permits were produced to draw subsidized seed in Prakasam district and the district police arrested seven persons including an agricultural officer. The Superintendent of Police, Mahesh Chandra Laddha speaking to reporters that they seized fake permits and rubber stamps from them.

During interrogation, the police came to know that the Assistant Agricultural Officer's involvement in the fake permits. The police arrested all these persons and also arrested the supplier of the stamps to the gang.

New Year Bonanza from BSNL
Hyderabad

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is planning a massive broadband rollout in the State in what is being described as a 'New Year Gift' according to the Chief General Manager, Sanjaya Kumar. The BSNL is planning to provide a minimum of 256 kbps Internet speeds, broadband will bring videoconferencing, virtual private networks and video on demand for common users.

Hyderabad and Vijayawada would form the main nodes, with broadband connections also available in all important towns. This is in view of the State Government's initiative of covering every village with these facilities in the coming two years.

Ganja seized in Adilabad
Adilabad

The One Town police on Sunday seized five quintals of ganja near Tirpally locality and arrested two youths in connection with its illegal transportation. At a press conference, the DSP.K.Sarveswararao said a group of 15 persons belonging to Aurangabad was involved in the transportation of ganja and a case has been registered and investigation is going on.

Cooperative Week Celebrations

Inaugurating the centenary celebrations of Indian Cooperative Movement and 51st All India Cooperative Week at the Institute of Cooperative Management, the Labour Minister, G.Vinod on Sunday said that the cooperatives in the State should diversify their activities with professional approach.

He said that the Government is working out a comprehensive package on allotment of works. It would undertake a study to identify the works and if needed would train personnel in skill development.

China Jeeyar Swamy expresses anguish

Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami on Sunday expressed anguish at the arrest of the Sankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sri Jayendra Saraswti. He said it was quite unfortunate that the Peetam held in high esteem by thousands of devotees was facing a crisis.

It was necessary that the situation suitable for devotees to practice their personal faith and religious practices was resorted in the organization. China Jeeyar Swami said he was praying with the hope that the Seer would come out of the crisis.

Permission for Hyderabad meeting by CPI (Maoist)

Maoist leaders on Sunday called on the Home Minister, K.Jana Reddy and the APCC president, K.Keshava Rao both Government representatives for talks with naxalites to seek permission for their proposed public meeting at Chengicherla on November 16th.

The Maoist leaders Ramakrishna, Gaddar, Ganganna and Ramesh told the Home Minister and the PACC chief that they were making a final attempt at getting permission for the meeting in view of the campaign by police that the gathering could disrupt peace. They demanded the Government to announce its decision immediately as Maoist were already engaged in making arrangements.
