Nandi Awards distributed
Hyderabad

The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a function held in Hyderabad while giving away the Nandi Awards on Wednesday said that the video piracy is a crime. Giving away the awards to the film personalities and the Raghupathi Venkaiah award to the Producer VB Rajendra Prasad for the year 2003, he said that the Government will deal firmly on the piracy.

He announced that a committee headed by the Chief Secretary to go into the problems of the film industry and would submit its report in a couple of months. The Union Minister for State for Coal, Dasari Narayanarao who presided over the function was critical of the Telugu film industry for not supporting the Congress during TDP rule.

Mob attacks super speciality hospital in Khammam
Khammam

The nephew of the playback singer and music director, Vandemataram Srinivasarao was died in a super speciality hospital. An irate mob after the flash of the news attacked the hospital on Wednesday and ransacked and windowpanes of two ambulances were smashed. The police swing into action and control the situation. Some office bearers of the CPI district committee alleged that there is a gross negligence on the part of the doctors.

Chief Minister promises top priority to Telengana
Salura (Nizamabad)

The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy reiterated that top priority will be given to Telangana region in the construction of irrigation projects. In an informal chat with press persons on Wednesday said that the Government is committed to complete the projects at the earliest possible time. He performed Bhoomi pooja for the Salura lift irrigation scheme and addressed a public meeting he further said that the Government is making all possible efforts to ensure remunerative prices to all crops.

Permission denied to Naxal meeting
Hyderabad

The proposed meeting of the naxals in the State Capital on 16th November was denied by the police. The decision to deny permission for a public meeting could have an impact on the second round of peace talks between the left wing extremists and the Government. The CPI (Maoist) State Secretary, Ramakrishna announced that the second round of talks with the Government could be held only after the public meeting at Hyderabad.

Joint Action Committee call for Dharna
Hyderabad

The Joint Action Committee of employees, teachers and workers has given a call to its members to lay siege in all the district Collectorates in the State on 24th November in pursuance of its demands. Talking to reports on Tuesday, the JAC chairman, BV Subbarao said the negligent attitude of the Government in not solving the problems and demands had forced the members to plan dharna and protest demonstrations.

Tenders issue – Lok Ayukta begins probes
Hyderabad

An investigation team of the Lok Ayukta on Wednesday probed the incidents during the tendering works connected to various major irrigation projects on Tuesday. K. Anandaiah, Director (investigation) who headed the investigation gathered the details about the tendering process from the concerned officials. He said the inquiry will be completed by Thursday evening in the manner in which a contractor was prevented from filing his bid.

The findings of the committee would be submitted to the Lok Ayukta on 17th. In this context, the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy denied the charge that there were rings and syndicates by contractors behind the mass filing of tenders for pending projects. He clarified that not even a single paisa of the Government will be allowed to go away.

Naxals to organize meeting on 13th November
Karimnagar

The CPI (Maoists) groups of naxalites are gearing up to organize the martyrs' memorial meeting at Begumpet village in Kamanpur mandal on 13th November. Naxalites have built a memorial for the slained naxals of Koyyur encounter. The memorial will be inaugurated on the occasion. Top leaders and representatives will attend the function. In this context, the police are intensified checking while the police are yet to give permission to hold the meeting.
