Varavararao, Gaddar arrested, freed
Guntur
Eleven persons, including the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee members, Varavara Rao, Pinakapani, Pinaka Srinivasa Rao and the revolutionary singer Gaddar were arrested at Chirala in Prakasam District on Sunday evening for violating police orders and later released. The district police had denied permission for organising a public meeting and rally to observe the first death anniversary of the PW State Committee member Karumanchi Prasad.

The organisers later published in the local media that despite the rejection of permission by the police, they would go ahead with the anniversary to which the police had also given adequate publicity in all media cautioning them of stern action if they violated the police order and went ahead with the meeting.
