Corporate colleges bags the ranks

Visakhapatnam

The Visakhapatnam branch of Vikas Educational Institutions has bagged the second rank in the medical and third rank in the engineering streams of EAMCET-2004, the results, which were announced on Wednesday. The local branch of Sri Chaitanya College got the third and the eight ranks in the medical and the 14th in the engineering stream.

Poor rank in EAMCET forces girl to end life

Anantapur

An Intermediate student Laxmi Prasanna committed suicide by dousing herself with kerosene in her residence on Wednesday allegedly due to her poor performance in EAMCET 2004 results of which were released today.

In another incident a student Nizamuddin consumed sleeping pills due to his poor performance in the test whowas rushed to hospital, where his condition is stated to be out of danger.

APCC chief likely to be replaced

Hyderabad

Congress sources are not ruling out the possibility of the APCC president D.Srinivas being replaced soon. Mr.Srinivas has been inducted into the Cabinet as Minister for Rural Development but is yet to take charge. Informed sources in the party claim that the AICC is planning to replace by June end.

Five more farmers commit suicide

In various incidents, reports came in that suicides have taken place in Kurnool, Karimnagar, Nalgonda and Guntur. The reasons for these suicides are said to be debt ridden.

Talks on medical staff demands

Hyderabad

The Principal Secretary, Medical and Health on Wednesday held discussions with representatives of the AP Medical Employees Union on their long standing demands, including training courses for in service candidates and revision of AP Vaidaya Vidhana Parishad rules according to a press release.It expressed the outcome of the meeting would be implemented in a months time.

Hyderabad

Members of the AP Minority Employees Association who met the Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the Secretariat on Wednesday announced donation of a days salary of one lakh employees for providing free power supply to farmers.
