Five of family killed in lightning

Nellore

Five members of a family in Bheemavarappadu Arudhativada of Kondapuram mandal of Nellore district died when lightning struck their house on Tuesday. In addition to this, 8 quintals of cotton, 20 bags of paddy, 4 sovereigns of gold, Rs.57,000 in cash one goat and 10 chicks also perished due the lightning.

12 more farmers commit suicide

Guntur

Six farmers committed suicide in Guntur district in the last 24 hours unable to repay the loans they raised for agricultural activity. In Baptla town one farmer committed suicide and in Sattenapalli mandal, a cotton grower consumed pesticide last night and was found dead. According to a report from Warangal, another farmer died on the same lines. In Nalgonda two farmers committed suicide. All these suicides are due to debts.

EAMCET results will be announced despite confusion

Hyderabad

After some confusion over the declaration of results, the EAMCET committee has decided to release the results on Wednesday morning at the JNTU campus. The EAMCET committee Chairman said that the orders were given by the court in the evening and the valuation was on.

The Minister for Higher Education P.Venkateswararao will release the results at 7am. Results can be had through Interactive Voice Responsive System on 1255225 or 22222266 of BSNL service.

Bitumen plant commissioned

Visakhapatnam

The bitumen manufacturing plant set up here by the Hindustan Colas Limited was commissioned on Tuesday. The new plan, a joint venture company of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Colas SA of France will manufacture various types of value added bitumen-based products, such as bitumen emulsions, cutback bitumen and modified bitumen.

Two special secretaries appointed for CMs Office

Hyderabad

Two IAS officers and two others have been appointed to work in the office of the Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Mr.P.Subramanyam and MGVK Bhanu have been made Special Secretaries in the Chief Ministers office.

Panel on suicides will meet on May 30th

Hyderabad

The Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted by the Government yesterday to go into the issue of suicide by farmers and ensure proper implementation of the welfare packages will have its first meeting on May 30th. It will finalise a plan of action to tackle farmers problems including suicides. The Revenue Minister announced this on Tuesday.

SSC supplementary examinations

Hyderabad

The SSC advanced supplementary examination will be conducted from May 26th to June 8th from 10am to 12.30pm.The Director of Government Examinations, in a statement here on Tuesday.
