Mason murdered in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam

An altercation between two masons, both from West Godavari district has resulted in one of them allegedly murdering the other. According to III town police, the incident took place inside the building they were constructing.

Seven hour power supply for pump sets

Hyderabad

The AP Transco has asked the four distribution companies to maintain energy flow to agricultural pump sets for seven hours per day but issue monthly consumption bills to the farmers levying only 'customer service charges' of Rs.20 a month each. This small amount is to be used for maintenance/repair of transformers and transmission lines and for payments to private parties for preparation of the bills.

Mandal official denies reports of starvation death

Nalgonda

The administration here has refuted news reports that a carpenter of Mukundapuram in Nereducharla Mandal died of starvation on May 15th. In a press release issued by the MRO, he personally visited the village and conducted an open enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the carpenter's death. He died of ill health not because of hunger.

Four Education department staff suspended

Four employees of the education department have been suspended from service on the charge of having collected money from private educational institutions. According to the DEO, the Assistant Commissioner (Examinations) two senior assistant and a junior assistant were suspended on Tuesday on the instructions from the Commissioner of School Education.

Another farmer commits suicide

Mahabubnagar

Even as the new State Government announces its plans to render assistance to families of farmers who committed suicide, yet another farmer Mr.Goud ended his life by consuming pesticide, allegedly owing to debt burden in Shadnagar Mandal in the district last night. Unable to bear the pressured mounted on him for repayment of these loans taken from a cooperative bank, Mr.Goud ended his life.

BJP minority Morcha leader quits party

The BJP Minority Morcha State Executive member Shaik Khaslifathulla Basha has resigned to the party post and primary membership. Anguished by the agitation launched by the BJP senior leaders to stall Sonia Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister, he resigned to the party, in a statement he issued on Wednesday.

EAMCET results likely on May 26th

Hyderabad

The results of the EAMCET are likely to be released on May 26th. If they are not released on May 26th,they would be certainly released on May 28th. As the Chairman will be out of station on May 27th and his absence is being cited as the reason if they are not released on May 26th.According to officials, efforts are on to finalize the final key to be used for valuation based on representations from students, parents and teachers. The results will be made available at JNTU website and other websites including IndiaStudyCenter.com

ECET on May 26, 2004

Hyderabad

The Engineering Common Entrance Test, (FDH)-2004 will be held on May 26th from 10am to 1pm at 17 sub-centers of nine regional centers in the State. According to a press release issued by the ECET(FDH) convener, all the necessary steps to conduct the test have been taken and hall tickets have been despatched to the candidates. Information regarding application number, hall ticket number and test centers will be made available on JNTU's website www.jntu.ac.in from May 22nd. Candidates who have not received the hall tickets so far have been advised to approach the regional co-ordinator to obtain duplicate hall ticket, which will cost Rs.30.
